One of the main products of Morotack company is brush holder.Today we'll explain how to properly install brush holders on electric motors and generators.
· During the installation of brush holders, it is necessary to maintain a gap between the lowest edge of the product holder and the surface of the engine or generator manifold within 1.5-2 mm. Too large a gap can be the main reason for the fuzzy operation of the electric brush, and with a small gap, it may be difficult to grind the electric brush to the commutator, which will most likely affect its too rapid wear.
· For all reversible electric motors (with radial brush holders) it is necessary to strictly align the normal to the collector surface together with the central axis of the brush holder holder. In the case of non-reversible electric motors, it is allowed to shift the central axis of the brush holder from the normal by the following value 1/6l (l is the width of the electric brush) in the direction of rotation of the motor commutator. For proper installation of the brush holder, it is necessary to rub the working surface of the new brush with chalk, and then carry out several turns of the collector. When a chalk mark appears on the surface of the collector, it is considered that the brush holder is installed correctly. This check is very important for radial type brush holders.
· When installing two or more brush holders on the brackets of the electric motor, it is necessary to observe the parallelism of the walls of the cage of the installed brush holder to the edges of the collector plates themselves.
· All brush holders must be placed at the same distance from each other along the entire circumference of the collector. For particularly powerful electric motors, an installation error of 0.005L is allowed (L is the average distance of two adjacent brush holders), and for electric motors with a power not exceeding 200kW (0.015-0.020)L.
· In order to avoid the appearance of various annular brush workings on the collector, the brush holders must be installed with a small offset along the entire axis of the collector. The value of this displacement itself must be selected in such a way that the same number of negative and positive electric brushes take part in the appearance of each trace.
